The four founders of 9Wood have a combined total of 32 years
experience in the wood ceiling business. They are leaders in the
wood ceiling industry, having worked on some of the most challenging
and innovative ceiling projects in North America. Their accomplishments
include patented product innovations, successful projects over $1
million in scope, and breakthroughs in manufacturing efficiency.
Individually, they possess advanced skills in Project Management,
AutoCAD, Financial Management, Timber Frame Construction, Importing
and Distribution, and Manufacturing Operations. Together they represent
an ownership team that can deliver a project from concept to successful
completion. Projects in which their Project Management and Project
Engineering have garnered National CISCA awards include Our Lady of Angels Cathedral,
MIT Simmons Hall, and UCSD Cancer Center. |

9Wood's skilled production team consists of numerous employees with
several years in the wood ceiling profession. Project managers,
engineers, draftsmen, and production craftsmen have a total combined
experience of over 75 years. This knowledge based workforce assures
the experience that custom production requires.
9Wood understands what it takes for our clients to succeed. Our motto
"More Control, Less Time" reflects our dedication to the
rapid response of our customer needs and concerns. When coupled with
modern Demand and Capacity Planning techniques, this customer focus
creates a company value whose aim is to ensure accurate and maintained
project lead-times, responsive service and realistic integration with
the vagaries of construction schedules (especially at the last phase
of interior finishes). |

9Wood has a vision for quality products. A watchword built into the
foundation of our company is our President's favorite saying, "Quality
at the source, continual improvement." We partner with a limited
number of vendors who share our vision and can work with the precise
tolerances necessary. 38,000 square feet of production space, 2000 square feet of office
space, and highly trained and experienced key employees provide ample
capacity to meet our growing book of business. To ensure exacting
quality control we never outsource the most important steps in custom
wood ceiling fabrication: finishing, assembly and packaging. We have
specialized equipment to ensure conformity to AWI standards and customer
specifications.
Capabilities and Benefits available to our clients include:
- Species: Standard American species (such as Hemlock,
Douglas Fir, Red and White Oak, Cherry, Ash, Birch, White and
Natural Maple), as well as imported and exotic species (such
as Mahogany, Teak, African Mahogany, Anigre).
- FSC: Chain-of-Custody certification for the Forest Stewardship
Council program (providing LEED Credits) # SCS-COC-00667.
- Fire Rating: Both topical coatings (for solid woods)
or fire rated core materials (for veneered products)
- Veneers: Both domestic and import veneers, both sequenced
and non-sequenced panels.
- Finishes: Clear finishes and custom stains available,
per AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) specifications.
- CNC: Routing and perforation capabilities.
- Standard Suspension Systems: Most of our wood ceilings
suspend from industry standard T-Bar grid systems.
- Custom Suspension Systems: When the design requirements
dictate, we have the capability of providing radiused suspension
systems, and other methods, such as Unistrut.
- Acoustical Enhancement: All of our wood ceiling products
can provide acoustical enhancement, either absorptive (via absorptive
fiberglass and other materials on the products blind side)
or reflective. Acoustic Test Data is available for our Acoustic
Plank line.
- 3-D AutoCAD Capability: Much of our collaborative Engineered-to-Order
team work over the years has focused on developing methodologies
to integrate 3-D virtual drafted ceiling designs proposed by the
architectural community with the realities of woodworking and
construction. We have developed several approaches to these complex
geometric designs including 3-D Survey Control (3SC) and Collaborative
System Mock-Ups (CSM).
- Budgeting and Design Help: We offer a wide range of help
during the design phase, including budgets, design and consultative
help, guide specifications and samples.
9Wood was founded with the goal of making ownership of the
company available to key employees. We feel that this partnership
paradigm is essential to attracting the best staff and retaining
them for the long term. We expect and want to be accountable to
our employees as well as to our customers for hard work and wise
decisions.
This partnership paradigm includes the partnering with skilled
and experienced independent representatives in major metropolitan
cities across North America. Reps act as an indispensable bridge
between manufacturer and designer in realizing the design within
the ever-present budget constraints.
