Vertical return trim gives your project a finished look. Available in solid Western Hemlock in a variety of tones.
Return trim and trims can be added to any wood ceiling or wall order through 9Wood. Typically all trims are designed to match. We offer both straight trim and curving trim. We also have had metal trim integrated with our product, which is provided by others.
In some instances, we might suggest a solid wood trim using Western Hemlock stained to match the color of a more premium walnut or cherry product such as a wood tile. This keeps material costs down while still meeting the design intent.
Pricing for trims is contingent on the price of the wood ceiling in your order.
Wood trim must be cared for in a controlled interior environment (RH 25%-55% max; temp. 60°-80°) and installed only after reaching equilibrium moisture content. Should the building fall outside these limits, consult 9Wood for our Wood Ceiling Acclimatization for Professionals handbook.
Individual members and components can be coated with Class I (A) Fire Retardant chemicals (solid wood use FR coatings, veneered particleboard use FR formulas). Particular species or styles have not been tested.
Wood trim along with your wood ceiling may qualify toward MR-3, MR-4.1/4.2, MR-5.1/5.2, MR-6, MR-7, IEQ-4.2 or IEQ-4.4. As all products are custom-fabricated, LEED credit opportunities are project by project. Please contact 9Wood for specifics.
Wood trim members permit MEP penetrations and integrations. Cut members may require supplemental reinforcement. Fixtures and diff users must be independently supported.
Species & Finishes
9Wood recommends solid western hemlock for the most economical trim options. We also offer both domestic and imported species for wood trim. Clear, matte sheen finish is standard; custom stain matches are available. For additional information see our species article.
Wood trims require special attention for attachment to the suspension system. Please consult your Design Assist Specialist for project-specific solutions.
