Standard Stains
Stains are a great way to get the look of premium species on a tighter budget.
In the earliest phases of design, the right stain choice can make your vision tangible—fast. By selecting a standard stain during schematics, you give clients realistic visuals sooner, speed up sampling, and keep your project moving. Standard or custom stains can also stretch budgets by achieving the look of premium species while softening natural color and reducing overall color variation.
Certain species, like Solid Western Hemlock and White Oak Veneer, welcome a wide spectrum of stain colors due to their natural properties, while others, like White Maple and Walnut, have more selective stain compatibility. Either way, your ceiling can deliver the exact tone and texture your space calls for—on time and on budget.
As your design progresses, custom stains allow for precise alignment with brand palettes or complementary materials such as walls, furniture, or flooring, without slowing the approval process. With Custom Made Fast, standard and custom stains are available for both solid wood and veneer options. Plus, 9Wood doesn’t charge extra for a custom stains nor are there any minimums required.
The options below take you to high resolution images of standard stains that demonstrate the natural variation in appearance we typically see. These visuals will not cover all variation. (Stains are in stacked pairs to show each color applied to the natural grain of both wood species.) Please keep in mind that standard stain colors can be applied to any species, but they take to each one differently. Each project, depending on the scope, specie(s), and product(s), will have its own unique characteristics. This is the beauty and joy of designing with real wood; no two projects look the same.
If your project is ready for a custom stain, please send us a color control and we will match it.
