4600 True Access Tile

April 27, 2021

About Thomas Nelson

Thomas started working in 9Wood production on swing shift in 2019. He is now serving as a Marketing Analyst. He is a proud nerd who regularly collects memes and appreciates a good DIY wood working video on YouTube. His latest woodworking project was a home office book shelf made from hand picked ingredients form 9Wood's wood dumpster.

4600 True Access Tile

The most accessible wood tile suspension system available. Every panel is accessible without the use of tools or jeopardizing reveals between tiles.

The 4600 True Access Tile combines a floating wood tile design with the function of a fully accessible system. Every panel is accessible without the use of tools or fasteners. True reveals are maintained after every return with alignment clips gliding panels back into place. This means your ceiling won’t get bent out of shape over time while throughways remain unnoticed to occupants.

Tiles are real wood veneers on fire-rated cores, usually achieving a floating tiled look that can completely conceal the suspension system above. Designers can specify acoustic or perforated tile faces (see 3000 or 5000 series) and custom color and/or specie combinations are encouraged. Hardware configuration eases installation tolerances, making it easier for contractors to get it right the first time. Tiles must be suspended on HD 15/16” T-bar grid and are ready to be engineered for seismic compliance.

The 9Wood 4600 True Access Tile could be applied to an installation similar to this installation photo. Each panel would be fully accessible without tools and without jeopardizing the clean alignment across the entire ceiling.

Acclimatization

Wood Tile products must be cared for in a controlled interior environment (RH 25%-50% max; temp. 50°-85°) and installed only after reaching equilibrium moisture content. Should the building fall outside these limits consult 9Wood, Inc. for our 3 Tests/3 Tracks Acclimatization Advisory.

Acoustics

The 4600 style is considered acoustically reflective.

Fire Rating

Individual members and components can be treated with Class I (A) Fire Retardant chemicals (solid wood use FR coatings, veneered particleboard use FR formulas). Particular species or styles have not been tested.

LEED

9Wood products may qualify toward MR-3, MR-4.1/4.2, MR-5.1/5.2, MR-6, MR-7, IEQ-4.2, IEQ-4.4. As all products are custom-fabricated, LEED credit opportunities are project by project. Please contact 9Wood, Inc. for specifics.

MEP

The 4600 tile permits MEP penetrations in the ceiling’s surface. Cut panels may require supplemental reinforcement. Fixtures and diffusers must be independently supported.

Seismic

True Access Tiles can be engineered to meet seismic requirements. Consult local code for any additional requirements or a licensed local engineer.

Species & Finishes

Domestic and imported species are offered; clear, satin sheen finish is typical; custom stain matches available. Typical species include: Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Oak, Beech, White Maple and Cherry.

Suspension

Wood Tiles are suspended using 15/16” heavy duty T-bar main runners.

System Weight

The 4600 True Access Tile weighs 3 lbs / sq ft.
